Longbridge Area Action Plan / Former Rover site

The Committee has reviewed the Longbridge Area Action Plan (LAAP) for the former Rover area site and welcomes many of the proposals and the general tenor of the report in its proposals for sustainable development and responsiveness to local needs. The Society will continue to monitor the 15 year development. Questions remain, that are beyond the Society's brief, concerning the resumption of car production in the remaining
industrial plant.

News from the Lickey Hills Consultative Committee
You will recall that we were concerned about advertising within the Lickey Hills Country Park. At a recent meeting of the Lickey Hills Consultative Committee, the body of organisations which use the Hills, it was resolved that the advertising panels on the golf course tee information boards were acceptable as they were not unduly obtrusive and
the advertisers, had sponsored useful boards. The Lickey Hills Consultative Committee was given an assurance that the advertising banners around the area of the Old Rose & Crown will not be reappearing. The Lickey Hills Society will continue to monitor the situation.

The Green Flag Award inspection team have very recently inspected the Country Park and their report is eagerly awaited. The park, which regularly wins praise and awards, has been voted (via a website) as the most favourite place to go by children of the west midlands. Praise from children is praise indeed. How much praise can the Country Park team take!

Our thanks to all of those members and their guests who attended our Quiz Night on 14th March . Thanks, of course, to our masterful quiz master, Mike Brooke, who gets better and better… pity some of our scores don't! The raffle made £53 which we have donated to the Lickey Parish Hall fund.
